I spent a half hour of my time in the dining hall eating dinner. When you walk in there is a buffet like section right in front of you, to the right and also to the left of you. There is seating all around but they are also cut off into different sections. Students could with sit in a booth, sit by windows, or sit over by the side of the "West Cafe". When I eat here I notice that students typically eat in the same sections every time they go there. I feel like they sit in the same spot because maybe they do not feel as comfortable to move to another one and to meet new people. Another trend that I notice is that girls usually just eat salads. Which I do not know how that fills them up, but I feel like they eat salads because they are afraid of what people might think if they eat massive amounts of food. Also, they could be trying to watch their weight after gaining that freshman 15. Students also eat in groups and rarely did I see anyone who was sitting by themselves. I feel as though students eat with friends because it is some time away from the classroom and they can spend this time of the day talking about how their day is going or what their plans or for that night.
